Alexander The Great 1980
Plot Synopsis
Despite its title, this is not a biopic about the Macedonian King. Instead, this great Alexander has many forms: a legendary Greek liberator who rebelled under Turkish rule during the 15th Century, and a 1870 bandit who perpetrated the Dilessi incident, which serves as the basis for this film. Adapted to the 20th Century, this charismatic Alexander has kidnapped three British
aristocrats and is holding them for political ransom. With cinematography reminiscent of Byzantine mosaic, this is a masterful indictment of the political hero as myths.
